Overholt, Edwards earn event wins to lead Polk Middle track effort

Polk County Middle’s Olivia Overholt won two individual events Tuesday to lead the Wolverines in a Blue Ridge Conference track meet at Apple Valley Middle School.
Overholt won the 1600 meters in 5:52, finishing 38 seconds ahead of second place, and the 800 meters in 2:45. Overholt also ran with the 4×400-meter relay team that won the event in 4:45.6, three seconds ahead of Brevard Middle.
Polk Middle’s Braxton Edwards also picked up an event win for the Wolverine boys, taking the 200-meter dash in 23.8.

100-meter hurdles: 4. Amya Cunningham, 20.7
400-meter dash: 5. Michelle Ketwitz, 1:12.8
Shot put: 2. Avia Cunningham, 24-3 1/4
Boys
4×400-meter relay: 2. Polk County, 4:19.5
Long jump: 5. Braxton Edwards, 14-11
Discus: 2. Harrison Waddell, 111-0
Both Polk Middle teams are scheduled to be back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Flat Rock for another Blue Ridge Conference meet.
