For its last program of the 2017-2018 season series, the Tryon Concert Association will present the woodwind quintet WindSync at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Tryon Fine Arts Center.

WindSync will perform works by Antoine Reicha, Dieterich Buxtehude, Miguel del Aguila, and GyörgyLigetti. Their closing piece, titled “American Suite,” includes works by Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, Chuck Berry and Leonard Bernstein.

WindSync has received numerous awards in national and international competitions. The ensemble is heard widely on national public radio broadcasts, and recently participated in the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of NASA’s Voyager interstellar mission, which carried the sights and sounds of Earth into the solar system and beyond.

Always playing their concerts from memory, they specialize in performances that include elements of staging, costumes and choreography.

Their music ranges from the classics to music of today, including jazz, folk and musical theater, and the works of Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland and Dave Brubeck, are often incorporated into their performances.

Because WindSync is dedicated to reaching underserved audiences, their performances are held not only on the concert stage but in such venues as museums, national parks and other public spaces.

Concerts for young people reach over 5,000 students each year. Currently WindSync is the ensemble-in-residence with the Grand Teton Music Festival.

TCA is pleased to announce that St. Luke’s Foundation is hosting a reception for this final concert of the TCA subscription series. We are very appreciative of their support.

Information about the entire series can be found through the Tryon Concert Association, P.O. Box 32, Tryon, NC 28782. For more information visit www.tryonconcerts.com.
