Polk County High’s FFA Chapter took part in a wide range of activities on and off campus to help celebrate National FFA Week in late February.

The week-long celebration is described by the national FFA group as “. . . an opportunity for FFA members, alumni and sponsors to advocate for agricultural education and FFA. It’s a time to share with local, state and national audiences what FFA is and the impact it has on members every day.”

Polk County’s chapter participated in a community service project to advocate FFA in the community by cleaning up Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry in Columbus. Tasks performed during the project included splitting and stacking firewood, blowing leaves, cleaning out garden boxes and other various groundskeeping efforts.

On campus, FFA members hosted spirit dress-up days that included FFA T-shirt and Hoodie Day, Blue and Gold Day, American Day, Hat Day and Farmer Day. Each day during the school’s advocate period, the chapter hosted Ag Olympic Events, including cornhole and ping-pong tournaments, and egg toss and seed spitting contests.

The week ended with a Teacher Appreciation Day where FFA officers provided teachers with a Chick-fil-A breakfast and handwritten “thank-you” cards.
