New additions dashing into town, as OCF’s Art of the Horse expands

Published 8:00 am Friday, March 16, 2018

Beginning March 20, 2018, Foothills and Upstate communities will begin to see many new additions to the current painted ponies who have lived in the Foothills since the first running of the horses in 2015-2016.

These cheerful and serene horses, originally offered in three stances — Standing, Walking and Grazing Thoroughbreds — are now being joined by a Quarter Horse and an Arabian. The increased selected of horse bodies and stances were directly selected to represent the eight disciplines coming this fall to the Tryon International Equestrian Center, as it hosts the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games this September.

Approximately 30 horses will remain on public display from late March through early October, and a comprehensive, interactive map will be provided at many tourism, art and equestrian destinations, along with a short bio on each artist and descriptions of each horse that really anchor the connection.
