Donations needed for Tryon Arts & Crafts School’s annual yard sale
Published 8:00 am Friday, March 16, 2018
Tryon Arts & Crafts School invites the community to bring donations of household items, small furniture and appliances, art work and craft items, linens, jewelry, garden-related tools, and boutique items (please no clothing, unless designer) used books, and electronics to the school at 373 Harmon Field Road on March 20-22 for its yard sale on Friday March 23, from 12 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, March 24, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the gallery and forge of the school.
The yard sale will be the first in a series of fund-raising events for the repair of TACS’ building, which is in need of a new roof. Gathered for the sale in the gallery to date are donated toys, household items and garden supplies, a wine refrigerator, small appliances, crafts, gifts, and unique vintage pieces/boutique items such as art, jewelry and fine china.
There will also be a tool sale in the forge, with special blacksmithing tools from the Shane Urquhart Estate, including a 1908 Singer D-29 leather sewing machine, sand blasting box and much more. Money from the sale of these items will go to the construction and equipment fund for the new Shane Urquhart Metal Studio.
Shane was an amazing blade smith (two of his knives won the top award at TACS’ first juried show) who had participated both as a student and as an instructor at the forge. He lost his battle with leukemia last summer at the age of 40.
Please save the dates for the yard sale, and check your closets for items to bring in to donate.
For any questions, please contact the school at 828-859-8323.
