The wearing of the green is upon us once again.

Interesting how Mother Nature gets into the act as well. Everything is greening up. 

I will most likely make my way over to The Hare & Hound to celebrate the occasion as I have done for so many years past. The atmosphere in the pub is one of good cheer.

Irish eyes are smiling because, on St. Patrick’s Day, everyone is Irish. The pub serves great corn beef and cabbage, and just about everyone wears a shade of green and drinks green beer. 

I am so grateful that the social justice warriors have not declared war on St. Patrick’s Day. After all, he was a Catholic Saint, more than enough good reason to have him excommunicated from our calendars and celebrations.

Because everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, though, no one seems to hold this against him. 

This got me to thinking about Christmas.

Why can’t the same rule apply? What if everyone were Christian at Christmas?  What if everyone decided that Christmas was a time for peace, love and brotherhood — oops excuse me, personhood — and time for good will toward your fellows?

What if everyone just accepted Christmas just for that and took part in the joy of it all just as they do for St. Patrick’s Day? Why does it have to be that Christmas ends people?

I don’t hear anyone complaining that green beer and corned beef offends them.

People should lighten up.  Instead of taking offense at everything, why not try to find a reason to spread some good cheer and gratitude?
