Spartanburg Christian tops Polk golfers in season opener

Led by Parker Fain, Spartanburg Christian Academy defeated Polk County 155-194 Monday in a nonconference nine-hole golf match at Village Greens Golf Club.
Fain fired an even-par 36 to lead SCA to the win.
In the season opener for the Wolverines, Dillon Overholt and Hunter Lynch each carded 44s. Nick Wilson added a 50, and freshman Carson Emory posted a 56.
Also competing for the Wolverines were Grant Waddell (58), Blake Rackley (62), Charlie McKaig (63), Trey Thompson (65) and Max Zinn (66).
Polk County returns to action on March 14, hosting Hendersonville for a nine-hole match at Tryon Country Club.
