How does the new business owner market their business? How does the new business owner manage resources such as employees, facilities, equipment and their own time?

In an effort to support new entrepreneurs in the area, SCORE is partnering with the Lanier Library to present the SCORE Entrepreneurial Women’s Roundtable, which will be at 6 p.m. next week Thursday.

SCORE mentor Carol Browning describes the event as containing, “practical, how-to information for anyone running a business or thinking of starting one.”

As a resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration, SCORE is the nation’s largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors. Browning will moderate a panel of small businesswomen representing retail, social media, and manufacturing businesses in the Foothills area.

Panel members will include riding instructor/trainer Carice Berndsen; Amy Johnson, owner/operator of Kniticality Yarn Boutique and Classes; branding and digital marketing consultant Terri Morrin; and Tawana Weicker, owner/operator of Warhorse Soaps and Cleaning Solutions.

The session will begin with each member of the panel introducing themselves and their businesses, and speaking about their business objectives and strategies. The panel will then discuss such topics as why they took the risk and started a business, what obstacles they faced, and what they did to overcome the obstacles.

The panel members will also talk about how SCORE helped them overcome the obstacles, mention some of the tactics they used to manage resources and their marketing strategies.

The event is part of the Lanier Live series, and is open to the public and free to attend. For more information, contact the Lanier Library at 828-859-9535.
