Unity in the Community hosted their annual food drive during the month of January to collect food for Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry’s Food Pantry.

Unity in the Community board members and local churches all contributed generously, and donated a total of 889 pounds of food.

“Outreach is grateful to Unity in the Community for doing the January food drive every year.  After the generous holiday rush, the first of the year can be a slow time for donations and this food is appreciated to help us stock our shelves,” said Outreach Executive Director George Alley.

“While our mission is to improve the quality of life for area residents of the area by providing, educational, cultural, spiritual and entertaining activities, we wanted to go beyond that and to give back to our community. We recognize how important it is to collaborate with other nonprofit organizations,” said Unity in the Community Board President David Staley.

“As impressed and grateful as we are with the support from all who participated, we believe we will be able to contribute much more next year and for years to come with the help of more residents and local businesses,” said board member Beverly McKinney.
