Green Blades Garden Club has taken great pride in caring for the Park on Trade at the intersection of Trade Street and W. Howard Street next to Tryon Town Hall complex.

Park on Trade was designed and created in 2003 by the Green Blades Garden Club. The park was established with funds from individual citizens in the community and many helping hands during construction. Polk County Community Foundation, Forbes Foundation and West Family Charitable Fund provided grant funding.  It really has been a community effort. 

Green Blades Garden Club has spent countless hours planting trees and shrubs, as well as bulbs, perennials and seasonal annuals in the Park on Trade. Our vision is to have a park that brings color, interest and welcomes all to Tryon. Green Blades Garden Club’s mission has always been to create beauty within the community.

You may have wondered what happened to the park. The tornado on October 9 caused bricks to fall into the park from the roof of the building. The bench under the arbor was damaged and is unsafe to use. The town, for the safety of citizens, put a police tape across the back of the park. The town is working with an adjuster, engineers and insurance company to determine how to repair the roof.

Restoration of the Park on Trade will occur once the building is repaired and the arbor, bench and plantings near the wall are safe. Green Blades Garden Club is committed to the beautification of the Park on Trade.
