Pearson’s Falls open for all to enjoy

Published 4:21 pm Tuesday, February 6, 2018

Pearson’s Falls opened again on Feb. 1 for the 2018 season. The hours for February are Monday through Sunday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (gates close at 4 p.m.). There is an admission fee. Annual passes and group rates are available. School groups are admitted free. Call the gatehouse at 828-749-3031 for information. Pearson’s Falls is owned by the Tryon Garden Club. The club is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year!

In honor of Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14 there will be two for the price of one admittance. Bring your sweetie out to Pearson’s Falls and Glen for a brisk ¼ mile hike up to the falls. It has been a cold winter this winter so dress warmly. We experienced thick ice on the falls during the extreme cold in January. If it snows again, take advantage of the opportunity to experience a wintery Pearson’s Falls! In another month the spring wildflowers will start popping up as the seasons change.

On Feb. 21 the Tryon Garden Club will feature speaker Linda Fraser at their monthly meeting at 2:00 at FENCE. She will talk on ‘Growing Wild Things in a Polite Neighborhood’. Fraser is a noted botanical illustrator of native plants of the southeastern United States. The program is free and the public is welcome to attend.
