Columbus arrests man, woman for Dollar General shoplifting

Officers also find methamphetamine, marijuana

COLUMBUS-The Columbus Police Department arrested a man and a woman on Wednesday afternoon after the suspects took merchandise from the Columbus Dollar General.

Teresa Ann Greene, 37, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor larceny, possession of methamphetamine, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Columbus police reports.

John Allen Albree II, 55, was arrested and charged with aid and abet misdemeanor larceny and possession of marijuana paraphernalia, according to police reports.

Both suspects live at 163 Screvens Rd., Tryon.

Around 4:56 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, the Columbus Police Department was called to a larceny at the Dollar General on Shuford Road. The suspects left the store without paying for merchandise and were traveling towards Tryon, according to Capt. Scott Hamby. Hamby said the department was given a description of the suspects and the vehicle with the officers locating the vehicle in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church parking lot in Lynn.

During the vehicle stop, Hamby said the stolen items were found from Dollar General, as well as methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia.

Capt. Lowell Griffin of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Lt. Theda Rickman with the Tryon Police Department assisted n the apprehension of the suspects in Lynn.

Both were transported to the Polk County Jail with Greene receiving a $6,000 secured bond and Albree receiving a $500 bond.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in Polk County District Court on Feb. 14.
