Looking for a place that will instill confidence, creativity and discipline in your child? Look no further than our Thursday Afternoon Acting Group (TAAG) at the University of South Carolina Upstate.
Registration is now underway for students ages 8 to 18 to participate in this after school theatre program which meets each Thursday from 4 – 6 p.m. in the Studio Theatre at USC Upstate. The first class for spring semester will be held Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018.
Now in its eighth year, TAAG is under the direction of Rich Robinson, associate professor of theatre at USC Upstate. Students will enjoy games and exercises that will help young actors to improve vocally, physically and mentally for their roles. Students participating in TAAG will have the opportunity to share the stage with USC Upstate’s internationally-recognized Shoestring Players.
The spring play will be “Searching for David’s Heart,” by Cherie Bennett. Show dates are April 20, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. and April 21, 2018 at 11 a.m.
A touring play, “Cinderella, Cinderella,” by Steve and Kathy Hotchner, will be presented at local elementary schools during the month of April.
Does this sound like something your student may be interested in trying? There is a cost for the semester-long program. No experience is needed.
To register for classes or for more information, please contact Robinson at 864-503-5621 or rrobinson@uscupstate.edu or online at https://www.uscupstate.edu/outreach/youth/theatre-for-youth/.
