PCYF’s Weaver earns defensive MVP honors at Battle of the Borders

Polk County Middle School seventh grader Angus Weaver was named North Carolina’s top defensive player in Saturday’s Battle of the Borders youth football game in Mathews. In the game hosted by the Youth Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas, Weaver helped lead the Tar Heels to a 26-0 victory, earning defensive Most Valuable Players honors for the North Carolina squad. Weaver played this past season for Polk County Youth Football, helping guide the 11-12 Wolverines to the Mid-Atlantic Carolinas American Youth Football & Cheer Conference championship.
