Eugene William Wyckoff

Eugene William Wyckoff, 86, passed away on November 21, 2017, after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Martins Ferry, Ohio; a graduate of Bowling Green and Michigan State Universities, and a Navy veteran who served in Panama.
Mr. Wyckoff enjoyed two equal careers of 25 years, first as a marketing researcher for Cryovac, and then as a stockbroker for SmithBarney. He moved to Tryon in 1966; over the years, he volunteered for Hospice, and served as a Lay Reader and Vestryman at Holy Cross Episcopal Church. In his 60’s, he discovered the joys of hiking and mountain climbing, and climbed six major peaks in the Himalayas.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy of 50 years, of Tryon; and by his three daughters, Susan Lohrey, Debra Wyckoff, and Cynthia Pompilio, who reside in Kentucky and Ohio. A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, December 1, in the chapel at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, with interment in the memorial garden following. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 150 Melrose Avenue, Tryon.
