1A soccer playoffs: Polk to host Mountain Island Charter in opener

Polk County’s boys soccer team has received the 15th seed in the 1A West Regional and will host Mountain Island Charter in the first round of the state playoffs, according to official brackets released Monday by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.

The Wolverines (9-9-1) will battle Mountain Island Charter in Wednesday’s opener in G.M. Tennant Stadium. Start time for the match is expected to be announced Monday afternoon.

Mountain Island Charter finished 6-13-1 this season, including a 4-8 record in the PAC 7 Conference.
