Polk County Early College freshman Shanea Tingling organized an effort to help victims of the recent hurricanes that affected the United States and Puerto Rico. Under Tingling’s leadership, PCEC students collected personal items such as shampoo, bars of soap, sticks of deodorant, brushes and combs, razors, lotions, toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste. Items were placed into gallon-size Ziplock bags and delivered to the Shelby Mission Camp. The school’s goal was to put together 50 bags for victims of the hurricanes. They put together 100.
