Auditions are being held this Sunday and next Wednesday at The Tryon Little Theater for an upcoming production, directed by Catherine Gillet, which will begin rehearsals in October.

“Outside Mullingar” is a play by John Patrick Shanley, Academy Award winner for “Moonstruck” and Tony Award winner for “Doubt.”

The stage lights rise on a farmhouse kitchen in the Midlands of rural Ireland, where we meet two families caught up in a feud over a contested strip of land that separates their two farms. The New York Times said about the Broadway production in 2015: “The journey is heartbreaking, funny as hell, and ultimately deeply moving. ‘Outside Mullingar’ is a compassionate, delightful valentine to the wonder and weirdness of love.”

Auditions will consist of readings from the script (provided at audition) or a prepared monologue from another Irish play of the actor’s choosing. The cast will include: Anthony Reilly, late 20s early 30s; Rosemary Muldoon, late 20s early 30s; Tony Reilly, late 50s early 60s; Aoife Muldoon, late 50s early 60s. All must have a convincing Irish accent.
