TFAC’s piano offered to community for one-bid auction

Area music enthusiasts have a very special opportunity to purchase a historic concert piano. Tryon Fine Arts Center offers their Concert D Grand Piano to the public for a one-bid auction.

The current piano is being offered in anticipation of the acquisition of a new Steinway piano for use by TFAC, Tryon Concert Association, and other performers for decades to come.

The current piano, a 9 foot, Satin Black Concert D, was rebuilt by Steinway in the 1960s. Though well-cared for, it shows light wear from its storied career. The piano has been played by hundreds of locally, regionally, and internationally celebrated artists.

The Steinway is available by one-bid auction. Individuals may submit only one bid, with the highest bid over the reserve being chosen. TFAC also offers a Buy It Now price of $22,400, allowing the first bidder to submit that bid or higher to win the piano.

All bids must be submitted with name and contact information by September 25. Individuals may submit their bids to Grand Piano Auction, 34 Melrose Avenue, Tryon, NC 28782 or via email at GrandPianoAuction@gmail.com.
