Published 5:04 pm Thursday, September 7, 2017

The Discover Columbus Committee would like to announce an event for the whole family. Mark your calendar for Saturday, Oct. 7. The Columbus Heritage Festival will be held on the lawn of the historic Courthouse in Columbus.

The heritage of our area is rich in arts and crafts, pottery, woodworking, spinning, music, gem mining, farming, storytelling and traditional music, war battles, and much more. Vendors will be displaying some of these, and will also be offering apple cider, foods, coffee, ice cream and other goods for sale.

There will also be educational information on the many historic landmarks in Columbus. The festival will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Historical Museum will celebrate Stearns School’s 100th anniversary during the festival. The House of Flags Museum and Polk County Historical Museum will also be open. A rain date is set for Saturday, Oct. 14.
