Another outstanding chorus concert

The Community Chorus usually adds a musical act that upstages them, be it hand bells, the PCHS Band’s percussion section, or today’s Ol’74 Jazz Band from Rutherford County. The band played the curtain raiser “In the Mood,” joined by Leslie Bush at the piano.
Far from being a letdown, the Chorus followed with a delightful medley of Stephen Foster songs that I have not heard since we sang them in grade school at Tryon. The whole program never flagged, as they offered one old time favorite after another!
A nice touch was that the program was dedicated to Betty Brewer and Joseph Erwin, who between them conducted the first 14 years of Chorus concerts. They were spotlighted in attendance and received a well-deserved ovation from the audience.
