Broadway star to lead masterclass at TFAC

Calling all singers, music lovers, and would-be stars! You have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study with renowned tenor and the star of Broadway’s “Les Miserables,” J. Mark McVey.

J. Mark McVey will conduct a masterclass at TFAC on Friday, April 21 from noon to 2 p.m. The masterclass is open to public and no previous experience is required—only a love of singing and a desire to learn and improve.

Students will be asked to prepare in advance for an in-depth look at breathing exercises, technique and the art of critiquing in a constructive way. You may choose to participate for one-on-one feedback from McVey or simply watch the magic unfold.

The following evening, J. Mark McVey closes out the 2016-2017 Main Stage Series with a concert at 8 p.m. McVey will perform highlights from “Les Miserables” as well as other selections from his storied career on Broadway, film, television and as a solo artist.

J. Mark McVey has garnered major awards for the starring role of Jean Valjean in “Les Miserables” on Broadway, London’s West End, and in national tours. He’s made the role his own with more than 3,000 performances in the iconic musical.
