TRYON – The Town of Tryon is hosting an Easter Egg-Stravaganza this Saturday, April 8 from 1-3 p.m. at Harmon Field.

The event will feature kid’s golf, inflatables, face painting, the balloon fairy, popcorn and sno-cones as well as the Easter egg hunt and a hat competition.

The Easter egg hat competition will be held at 2 p.m., including categories of fanciest Easter hat, most Easter eggs on a hat and biggest Easter hat, with prizes for each category. The Easter egg hunt will begin at 2:30 p.m. on the baseball fields.

The event is free for area children ages preschool-fifth grade and will be held in the baseball field area of Harmon Field.

Paul Dale will also have the concession stand open during the event.

Tryon Town Manager Zach Ollis said he thinks it is very important to do these types of events for the children of the town and this is especially vital because of the influx of young families to the area.

“We have noticed that people are moving here from all over the country because of the lifestyle they can have here in Tryon,” said Ollis. “We need to do everything we can to ensure they realize they made the right decision.”

Ollis said he hears every day people’s fond memories of growing up in Tryon and the town wants to lay the foundation for those memories to be had by the future generations. He said the Easter egg hunt is just one event that the town plans to do every year to make Tryon the best place to raise a family.

The town did not spend any money to hold the event. The Easter egg hunt was made possible from donations from area businesses and individuals.

“I want to thank Lindy Buss and Lindsey Lewis for everything they have done for this event,” Ollis said. “Without them and the volunteers they coordinated, we would not have been able to do this. I also want to acknowledge all of the businesses that donated to this event. Without their generous donations, this would not have been possible. This is a true community event in every sense of the term.”
