Polk County residents got the chance to see and experience a “Taste of the Arts” at the Tryon Fine Arts Center (TFAC) over the weekend. Artist Christine Mariotti gave the attendees hands on workshops dealing with painting with alcohol, painting on silk and stamping, while ballet instructor Sonya Monts led workshops on ballet and creative dance. Artwork by artist Kevin Rogerson and JaLisa Jones was exhibited in the lobby of the TFAC. After the workshops, the crowd was electrified with a dynamic performance with The Spoken Word with Darelle Dove, Hendersonville Ballet Company and New Orleans style jazz band, Zeb Harrison and the Sounds of Praise. The Taste of Art project was sponsored by the Unity in the Community organization and funded by the Free Community Fund Grants Fund and the Polk County Community Foundation, with consulting from the Tryon Arts and Crafts School.
