► Tryon approves alcohol at upcoming events

The Town of Tryon approved alcohol sales at two upcoming events, The Tryon Rhythm and Wine Festival and a field day at Harmon Field. The wine festival is scheduled for May 6 at the Tryon Depot and the Harmon Field disc golf and field day is scheduled for April 26 at Harmon Field. Council approved the sale of beer and/or wine at the events (only beer at Harmon Field) during its March 21 meeting.

► Polk County elementary schools to hold kindergarten registration

Polk County elementary schools have scheduled registration for kindergarten for the 2017-18 school year. Tryon Elementary will hold registration on Tuesday, April 11 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Saluda Elementary on Thursday, April 13 at 1:30 p.m. and Sunny View Elementary from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23.
