Patricia Ann Fiol

Patricia Ann Fiol, longtime resident of Tryon, N.C., died March 22, 2017 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich. She was 92 years old.
Patricia was born on March 3, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents, Hazel (nee McIntyre) and William Hyland.
Patricia graduated from Birmingham High School in Michigan. Not long after graduation, Patricia married Stanley James Fiol on June 1, 1946. The two were married for over 60 years and created a beautiful family together.
Patricia worked a variety of jobs including owning her own mortgage company, working in public relations, and working as a freelance writer. Along with her busy working life Patricia managed to find time to raise a family and involve herself in many different organizations. She was an honorary member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and a member of the Association for Women in Communications.
Patricia got her second wind in Tryon! She was inducted into the Second Wind Hall of Fame for her work with many organizations, including Habitat for Humanity. She was also an active member of the Tryon Presbyterian church, specifically the Western North Carolina Presbytery and Presbyterian Women, volunteered for the Lanier Library, St. Luke’s thrift shop, and was a docent at the Tryon Historical Museum. In addition to her amazing work, Patricia was a Life Master bridge player.
Patricia was an avid traveler who loved golf, her Irish heritage, and lived life to the fullest. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all. She was deeply loved by so many and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Patricia is survived by her loving children, Buzz (Kathy) Fiol and Melissa (Gary) Oudersluys and her cherished grandchildren, Gwendolyn (Andrew) Miriani, Stuart (Laurie) Fiol, Bethany Oudersluys, Barclay Oudersluys, and Boyce Oudersluys. She is also survived by her three great-grandchildren. Patricia is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Stanley.
A memorial service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd., Clawson, Michigan (Between 14 & 15 Mile Roads) Tuesday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. Friends may visit beginning at 5p.m.
Another memorial service will be held in Tryon, N.C. at a later date.
