Jeanette A. Rhodes

Jeanette A. Rhodes of Saluda, N.C. died peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Laurel Woods, Columbus, N.C.

A native of Polk County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Butler and Blanche Covil Arledge, and widow of Tollie M. Rhodes. She was member of Fork Creek Baptist Church, Saluda, N.C. for over 70 years. Jeanette was a homemaker and worked for many years in the family restaurant business in Hendersonville.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, son Glenn M. Rhodes and his wife, Rebecca Staton Rhodes of Mill Spring, N.C., two sisters Doris (Dot) Mills Burnette, and identical twin, Virginia Mills, both of Columbus.

Surviving are two sons, Paul A. Rhodes and Gerald W. Rhodes of Saluda, one daughter Jane McDermott (John) of Naples, Fla., and grandsons, Ken Blakeman of Philadelphia, Pa., Ethan Rhodes of Saluda, Joseph Shelley of Jacksonville, Fla.; granddaughters, Molly Wallbillig and Casey Staton of Saluda, three great grandchildren, and two sisters Clyde (Junie) Henson of Tryon, N.C. and Harriet Case (Delbert) of Columbus, N.C. Jane and Jack’s children have enjoyed many dinners with Jeanette over the years in Connecticut and they will mourn her loss. Jeanette is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. Jeanette was a strong and gracious lady. She was loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed.

A reception celebrating the life of Jeanette will be held at McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C., Saturday, March 25, 2017, from 1 – 2:30 p.m.
