Cannon Music Camp scholarship awardees give a concert at Tryon Estates

Gifted students from the local area showcased their talents in a musical evening at Tryon Estates in Columbus March 10. Four students who won full scholarships, including tuition, room and board at Cannon Music Camp, performed. The camp experience lasts three weeks in June and July at the acclaimed Hayes School of Music, Appalachian State University, in Boone, North Carolina.  The scholarship awards are made possible through generous donations made by residents of Tryon Estates.

Awardees: Blake Queen, Emily Hogan, Sarah Rowe and Alex West.

The students are Emily Hogan of Polk County, and Blake Queen, Alex West and Sarah Rowe from Landrum.

Additionally, two students awarded scholarships in 2016 performed, Alexander Harrelson from Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, and Isaiah Adderholdt, who currently attends the Governor’s School in Greenville, South Carolina.

Tryon Estates residents were also privileged to hear three young brothers from Greenwood, South Carolina: Davis, Garrick and Brinson Moore. These musicians, as well as Adderholdt play in the Carolina Youth Orchestra.

The evening concert concluded with the piano performance of two Scarlatti Sonatas by Tryon Estates resident Robin Margeson.
