Unhappy with your tax assessments?

In response to the Green Creek residents who are unhappy about the rise in their assessments, it might be helpful to briefly discuss my own experiences. Starting in 1992, I appealed my assessments not only to the Polk County officials, but I appealed their rejection to the state following the guidelines set forth.

Invariably, the state assessor lowered my assessments considerably. In fact, by 2008 the county official in charge lowered my assessments to the point that I didn’t feel it necessary to appeal to the state. My current assessment is more than satisfactory so much so, I am not appealing at all.

My suggestion is that the aggrieved taxpayers seriously consider for whom they will vote in 2018 and appeal as far as they legally can for now.
