Brandon Bacher, Nicholas Wilson, and Denise Barthold cut back abelia shrubs.

On Friday, March 2 Polk County High School Horticulture II students gained some hands on experience helping with spring cleanup at the Tryon Depot Garden.

With the guidance of instructor Chauncey Barber and Tryon Garden Club members Jackie Burke, Joannie Newman, Denise Barthold, Gretchen Morris and Donna and Miles Southworth, the 14 students cut back ornamental grasses, divided and transplanted daffodils, dug and relocated hellebores, cleaned up abelia and oakleaf hydrangea shrubs and divided and replanted perennials along Pacolet Street.

The students worked hard and made a great contribution to the spring cleanup going on now at the Depot Garden on Pacolet Street in Tryon.
