Curtis Harris

Howard Curtis Harris, 86, of Columbus, N.C. passed away on March 7, 2017. He was the son of the late Jade and Mamie Fowler Harris and husband of Shelby Hammett Harris.

He retired from NCDOT and previously worked with Duke Power and Bigelow Sanford. He served in the U.S. Army for two years in Korea. He was a member of Peniel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby Harris; a son, Darrell Harris and wife Michelle of Greer, S.C.; a daughter, Natalie Harris of Spartanburg, S.C.; one brother, Bobby Joe Harris and wife Josie of Hickory, N.C.; and two sisters, Kathleen Harris of Palm Bay, Fla. and Marie Head and husband Bob of Valdese,
N.C.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Mildred Painter and Shirley Wallace.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 at Petty Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Peniel Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Steve Price. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
