Audrey Gabriel, 90, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Robert Gabriel, who passed away in 2008.

Mrs. Gabriel was born in 1926 to the late Rev. John and Alice Roos.  She attended Bryan College in Dayton, then entered the Cadet Nurse Corps in 1945 and received her nurse’s training at City Hospital in Saint Louis, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel were married in 1949 and made their home in Illinois, where they resided until his death.

Mrs. Gabriel moved to Saluda in 2009. She was a regular member at Saluda United Methodist Church, and enjoyed taking drives through the beautiful mountains in the area. She loved music, and began each day by playing numerous hymns on the piano, choosing her favorites from among her collection of old hymnals and chorus books.

Mrs. Gabriel is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her extended family, who loved her very much. She will be dearly missed, and remembered with joy.
