St. Luke’s Hospital welcomes William P. Jenks to serve a three-year term on the board of trustees. A resident of Tryon since 1994, Jenks retired from Owens Corning after 32 years of service in sales and marketing and later, as the vice president and general manager for the Trumbull Asphalt Division. He also served as a training consultant for the company.

Jenks has served numerous nonprofits in the area since retiring to Polk County. Among his many contributions to the local community, Jenks has been the president of the board of trustees for Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE), president of Tryon Downtown Development Association, chairman of the board for Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, treasurer for Holy Cross Episcopal Church, and both the president and treasurer for Many Levels Property Owners Association.

A native of Winnetka, Ill., Jenks is a graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., and the Stanford Executive Master of Business Administration program. From 1957 to 1960, he served in the US Air Force as an air intelligence officer at Clark Air Base in the Philippines.

He and his wife Mary Clare have been married for 61 years and have three adult children, nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. When not doing community service, Jenks enjoys fly-fishing and golf.
