Polk County High School will rock on Feb. 24 as Loaded Toad gets the action going at Cabin Fever, a fundraiser for Be A Voice 4 Kids. The fun starts at 6:30 p.m. Elvis Presley fans will have a treat, too, as Danny Edwards of Chesapeake, Va., does his spot-on tribute to the King of Rock and Roll.

“It’s more than rock,” said Mary Edwards, president of Be A Voice 4 Kids. “Loaded Toad can play anything, and Johnny Edney is a terrific drummer for them. Danny’s done his Elvis   impersonations everywhere.”

Cabin Fever happens in the winter, when the days get short and the dark gets long. Folks start feeling restless or lonely and need a chance to feel like part of something fun and meaningful.  This fun evening will bring much-needed support to Be a Voice 4 Kids.

The mission of Be a Voice 4 Kids is to educate, prevent and heal childhood abuse through spiritual strength, peer support and inspiration. Although created as a fundraiser, Cabin Fever will also bring awareness of child sexual abuse, the need to educate for prevention and to help heal those who have been victimized.

School Superintendent Aaron Greene will be the emcee for the evening to show his support for the cause. Many local merchants have offered door prizes and live and silent auction items, including Advance Auto Parts, Blue Ridge Barkway Pet Grooming Salon, Nature’s Storehouse, Applebee’s, Larkin’s on the Lake, Parker-Binns Vineyard and more than two dozen others. Tryon International Equestrian Center has donated two nights in one of their cabins, and Carolina Equestrian has offered horseback riding lessons as part of a combined auction package.

Tickets for Cabin Fever can be purchased at Mountain View Barbecue in Columbus, at Tangles and Toes in Mill Spring and at Manna Cabanna in Tryon.
