Karen Dacey, program coordinator, and Mary Prioleau, outreach coordinator, will speak to the Tryon branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) about Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Polk County on Monday, Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m. at Tryon Presbyterian Church fellowship hall. The meeting is open to the public.  Refreshments will be served.

Dacey and Prioleau will provide an overview of the BBBS programs, celebrate success stories and highlight the new graduate match program. As a national organization founded in 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest and largest youth mentoring organization in the United States. For more than 100 years, BBBS has operated under the  belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life.

BBBS makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 14, in thousands of communities across the country. They develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people through a strong network of agencies.  Polk BBBS is honored to have such strong support in the community for their mentoring programs for area youth.

AAUW is a nationwide network of university women whose mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research, empowering women since 1881.
