Therapeutic Riding of Tryon (TROT), the therapeutic riding program at Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE), is kicking off 2017 with its spring barn cleaning on Feb. 27 starting at 1 p.m. in the TROT barn at FENCE. Everyone is welcome. TROT teaches horsemanship skills to adults and children with physical, cognitive, development and emotional challenges in a safe, friendly and supportive environment. To  learn more about TROT and to become a volunteer, contact Peta Grafham or Allison Rhyne at TROT by calling 828-859-9021 or emailing trotvolunteer@fence.org. Volunteer orientation is scheduled for March 4 at FENCE. The spring sessions for TROT will begin the week of March 13 and continue for 10 weeks. TROT is looking for volunteers who can be horse leaders or side walkers and perform other general service work to support the mission. FENCE is located at 3381 Hunting Country Rd. in Tryon.
