POLK COUNTY DISTRICT COURT RESULTS

In Polk County District Court on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, with Judge T. Mack Brittain presiding, 99 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.

The following persons were convicted of a crime:

Amanda Michelle Belue was convicted of felony probation violation. Belue was sentenced to 90 days in jail.

Wayne Thomas Carland was convicted of level three driving while impaired. Carland was sentenced to three days in jail with credit for time served, one year unsupervised probation, a $300 fine and court costs.

Ciera Dawn Clarke was convicted of misdemeanor attempted uttering. Clarke was sentenced to three days in jail with credit for time served.

Calvin Lew Watkins was convicted of assault on a female and second-degree trespass. Watkins was sentenced to nine days in jail with credit for time served.

SALUDA POLICE DEPARTMENT

During the month of December 2016, the Saluda Police Department answered 147 calls for service.

There were nine arrests, including two on drug charges, six for outstanding warrants and one for possession of firearm by a felon.

There were 60 state citations issued, eight city citations, 25 warnings, four accidents, one larceny, 14 welfare checks, six alarms, three open doors, 33 suspicious persons/vehicles, two property damages and two noise complaints.

Officers patrolled 4,065 miles, assisted in six check points with the N.C. Highway Patrol, Henderson County and Columbus and assisted the Saluda Fire Department four times, Polk County Sheriff’s Office 11 times and Columbus one time.
