Hoyt Conner, 70, of Saluda, N.C. passed away Saturday afternoon, Nov. 12, 2016 in the Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum, S.C.
A native of Polk County, N.C., he was the son of the late George Luther Conner and Minnie Lee Sain Conner. Hoyt retired from Hatch Plant after 44 years of service. He was an avid lover of drag racing, owning two drag cars of his own. He enjoyed racing at Greer Dragway. Hoyt was a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Esther Thompson Conner; three daughters, Lisa Bradley (Richard) of Saluda, N.C., Jennifer Peeler (Glenn) of Campobello, S.C., and Tabitha Ashley of Saluda, N.C.; a son, Jason Ashley (Ashley) of Mill Spring, N.C.; two brothers, George Luther Conner (Joan) of Saluda, N.C., Lloyd Conner (Dorothy) of Hendersonville, N.C.; two sisters, Lettie Faye Gass of Boiling Springs, S.C., and Rosie Camp of Green Creek, N.C.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Ginni Mae Snyder, Jesse Bradley, Michaela Owensby, Adam Peeler, Conner Peeler, Aden Ashley, Blythe Ashley, Fallon Ashley, and Kinsley Ruff. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren. Hoyt was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Annie Mae Conner and Ellen Conner.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016 in Silver Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Rob Hefner officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday evening, Nov. 15, 2016 in McFarland Funeral Chapel.
Burial will be private and at a later date.
At other times, the family will be at the home.
