► City of Landrum approves Hay Rack drainage repair funds

The City of Landrum has approved funding for the drainage improvement project in front of The Hay Rack and along Hwy 14. The state has offered the city $25,000 and the city has to allocate up to $8,500 from the Road Fund to complete the project. Donald Williams, president of The Hay Rack and property owner, is contributing $1,500, an easement and materials to the project. According to the Spartanburg County Department of Public Works engineering staff, the improvements are designed to be permanent.

During the November Landrum council meeting, the Spartanburg Chamber of Commerce presented new rates for city business licenses in accordance with North American Industry Classification System data. According to Landrum City Clerk Shelly Spivey, the business license rates had not been updated in some time and the changes are revenue neutral. The new rates, according to Spivey, will go into effect in the 2017 calendar year after city council approves them.

► City of Landrum considers misdemeanor rate increase ordinance

A first reading of an ordinance that adjusts the rates for fines associated with misdemeanors in the City of Landrum was held Tuesday evening during Landrum’s city council meeting. Landrum Police Chief Tim Edgens gave a presentation on the new rates. A second reading of the ordinance will be held during the council’s December meeting.

► Landrum city clerk/treasurer takes new position in Woodruff

Landrum city clerk and treasurer, Shelly Spivey, will be relocating to Woodruff, S.C. to take the same position for that city in the coming weeks. Rita Bruce, Landrum’s assistant city clerk, will take Spivey’s position as city clerk and treasurer for Landrum.
