Jackie Tohn performs quirky musical stand up comedy Nov. 12 at TFAC
There are many ways to describe Jackie Tohn: stand up comedienne; original musician; stand up musician; comic; actress; comic actress. Her wide range of talent is something you have to see for yourself at Tryon Fine Arts Center on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m.
Jackie’s performance is equal parts sweet and sarcastic. As an American Idol semifinalist, Jackie brings genuine musical prowess and heartfelt songwriting to the stage. And then, she switches it up with hysterical stand up comedy and stories. Her unique mix of talents complement each other well, and guarantee an evening filled with the unexpected.
According to Music Connection Magazine, “If you combine the songwriting skills of Laura Nyro, the gutsy earthiness of Janis Joplin, and the cool, bohemian style of Rickie Lee Jones, you’ll have some idea of Jackie Tohn. And, though some may think those references are dated, you have to go back that far to find artistry this good. Smart, insightful, and in your face, her acoustic rock material is utterly compelling. Summary: This young artist is a star in the making. Jackie Tohn has a special gift and there are not many like her.”
Jackie has performed across the country and appeared on television, film, and Netflix series. Saturday, Nov. 12 marks her debut at Tryon Fine Arts Center. Tickets are available by calling the TFAC Box Office at 828-859-8322 or online at tryon
arts.org.
Jackie Tohn is presented by 2016-2017 Main Stage Series sponsor Parsec Financial and Event Sponsor Karaman Properties, Inc.
