Helping Equines Regain Dignity to hold dinner, talk by Mary Alice Monroe
Save the date for a fun, interesting, and for a good cause event. On Oct. 26, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the Tryon International Equestrian Center, there will be a dinner and talk by renowned author Mary Alice Monroe.
Helping Equines Regain Dignity, or HERD, is a new equine rescue group in the Foothills that has assisted in saving 30 horses from dire conditions, and in some cases slaughter. Primarily using their own funds, members have rescued, vetted, fed, trained and given these horses a second chance at life, and 26 have been adopted by loving new owners. This is your chance to be a part of a much-needed resource for our community.
RSVPs are requested to ssbevans@windstream.net. If you are unable to attend but would like to contribute please send a check to Stuart Evans, 55 Grey Fox Lane, Tryon, NC 28782.
Founding members of HERD are Heather Freeman, Ilaria Derr, Cindy Boyle, Sally Rock, Beth Laughridge and Scott Homstead. Herdrescue is a grassroots community of neighbors that want to save horses from slaughter. Herdrescue is not a charitable organization or 501c3. Donations are not tax deductible.
