Children going into foster care to benefit
My name is Alana Seay and I am a senior at Polk County High School. For my senior project, I am focusing on foster care. As part of this, I have organized a drive for something called “journey bags.” These are pre-made bags filled with clothes, basic toiletries, and a few other items that provide foster children with the things they may need when taken into care. Put into a new duffel or backpack, these items can really impact a child’s life.
The drive is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 10 through Friday, Oct. 14 in the front of Polk County High School’s main office. Every donation will be greatly appreciated.
The following are suggested items: baby wash, lotion, Desitin, toothbrush/toothpaste, diapers, comb or brush, baby wipes, hair ties/barrettes, bottles, sippy cups, sleepers, onesies, pajamas, socks, underwear, cuddly baby blanket, rattles, stuffed animal, teethers, small toy book, small photo album, T-shirts, scarves, hats, shampoo, body wash, lip gloss/Chapstick, underwear, socks, game/activity, deodorant, coloring book, crayons, notebook, pens, balls.
