On Oct. 13, Tryon Fine Arts Center celebrates the creation of a new, original play with a staged reading, one night only, of “Winter Spring Summer Fall” by local playwright Catherine Gillet. The performance will take place in the Peterson Amphitheater, in honor of the changing seasons that are at the heart of “Winter Spring Summer Fall.”

The production will take place at 7 p.m. in the Peterson Amphitheater. Beloved actors from across the region are highlighted in each of the four short acts.

Susie Kocher and Mark Monaghan star in “Winter,” Sandi Chrysler and Peter Saputo bring “Spring” to life, Lori Lee and Chris Tinkler star in “Summer,” and Molly Brown and Chase Wolfe present “Fall.”

“Winter Spring Summer Fall” is based on the very simple premise of The Park Bench play,” said Gillet. “The four separate acts are unique, individual stories told from the same bench, in the same park, in front of the same tree, during a completely different season.”

Gillet relocated from New York to Tryon in 2014. Her plays have been performed across the country and won numerous awards. Gillet’s play “Joe & Angie” was performed at TFAC last fall.

“I always love the opportunity to step into a character, but there is an added treat when the playwright is sitting just a few feet away,” said actress Lori Lee. “It has been really different performing in the Amphitheater environment,” said performer Sandie Chrysler. “It makes it more real, alive and authentic since all the plays take place outside. I enjoy feeling the realism of the surroundings.”

Donations will be accepted at the door. This event is sponsored by the Plume Family Foundation.
