There will be some new offerings at the Tryon Painters & Sculptors Gallery this fall. The special workshops are as follows:
Abstract Painting Workshop with instructor Marsha Staiger will be held Thursday, Oct. 13 through Saturday, Oct. 16. This is an opportunity for artists to learn to transform ideas from life into strong abstract works of art and understand the principles of design that formulate their structure. Students can work in water media, watercolor and acrylic paint, but oil painters may want to do the challenges in their media. Students with some painting experience are encouraged to sign up for this workshop.
Embrace the Artist In You is an instructional two-day beginning painting workshop with instructor Nancy Ray Taylor. The dates are Thursday, Nov. 17 and Friday, Nov. 18. This workshop is tailored to attract novice painters and motivate them to begin to paint for the first time.
With Oil Painting Landscapes, one of our favorite instructors, Suzanne Doyle, will be returning for a three-day workshop on oil painting, Monday, Oct. 31 – Wednesday, Nov. 2.
Another new direction in painting will be pursued in the workshop entitled Cold Wax Techniques and will feature the special teaching talents of Carol Bomer from Asheville. This unusual approach to surfaces will be challenging and exciting and involves less fumes than in traditional encaustic techniques. That workshop will take place on Dec. 8 and 9 in the TPS classroom.
Ongoing classes are taking place in ceramic sculpture, figure drawing, and head study on Wednesday nights. Interested people should contact the gallery for more information at 828-859-0141.
Our hours are 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Visit tryonpaintersandsculptors.com for more information.
