Delbert was the proud owner of Pittman Well Boring for over 30 years. Delbert found his lifelong passion for well drilling and helping others from his father, Wid Pittman, starting at age 7. He loved this work and later started his career in well drilling in Georgia. He then continued his business back in his home area of Rutherford County when he opened Pittman Well Boring in 1987. Delbert was known throughout the surrounding counties for his kindness, honesty and desire to make sure the job was done right and the customer treated fairly. Delbert passed away as he always said he would…on the job site doing what he loved.

He was an avid car enthusiast who loved driving to car shows in “Matilda, the ’37 purple Buick” and spending time with good friends.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Lee Moore Pittman; his daughters, Kimberly Dawn Sellars and Helen Christine “Crissy” Bush, both of Ellenboro; his sister, Sandra Pittman Mayse and her husband Ron, of Forest City; his grandson, Taylor Chance Sellars; his nephews, Chad Mayse and Laura, and Wrien Mayse and his wife Lee Ann; and grand nieces Kinsley and Kailee; he will be missed by his four legged children, Max and April. April will certainly miss her belly rubs.

A visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service. Cremation will occur and a private family service is scheduled for later.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043. Online condolences may be left at www.washburndorsey.com.
