St. Luke’s Hospital Rehab Center will host a free six-week workshop on living with chronic pain in August and September as part of its ongoing Rehab Education Series.
Led by Scott McDermott, MPA, OTR/L, and Sharon Hodge, PTA, from 2-4:30 p.m. in the Community Room at St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation, the workshop will begin Wednesday, Aug. 3, and last through Sept. 7. Pre-registration is required by Aug. 1 by calling 828-894-8419.
“With this workshop, we want to go in-depth about the various forms that chronic pain can take, especially in the back, legs and hands,” Hodges said. “Living with chronic pain is a daily reality, so this workshop will last six weeks, as opposed to our usual one-day lectures. We want our participants to really walk away with a thorough understanding of how to improve their daily life.”
Participants will receive a free book and CD. Light refreshments will also be provided at each session. St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation is located at 89 W. Mills St. in Columbus.
Future programs in the Rehab Education Series will cover repetitive stress injuries in September, cancer and rehabilitation in October and hand arthritis in November. Each of these programs will take place on a selected Wednesday of the month, from 1-3 p.m.
