George Carl Fischer, 75, of Columbus, died on July 22, 2016 at his home.

George was born in Chicago, Ill. to the late Carl and Mabel Fischer on February 25, 1941. He was married on June 22, 1997 to Pat. He worked as a technical adviser for Pneumatic Scale before retiring. George enjoyed playing the drums as a hobby. He was very active in the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years Patricia Groves Fischer; his children Heidi and husband Tony Martinez, Stephanie and husband Andy Gzik, and Peter

Fischer; stepdaughter Tammy and husband Scott Warren; grandchildren Adam, Ashley and Aaron Martinez; Stanley, Maxwell, Casey and Nolan Gzik; Meghan and Taylor Warren; and his sister, Beverly Kirk.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 30 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2971 Skyuka Road, Columbus, NC 28722.
