Virginia Williams Kuykendall

Virginia Williams Kuykendall, 92, of Tryon, N.C. passed away Saturday morning, July 16, 2016 in the Hospice House of Rutherford County.

Born in Polk County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late G.S. Williams and Minnie Walker Williams and wife of the late James Paul Kuykendall who died in 1969. Mrs. Kuykendall attended Columbus Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Col. Anthony Nolan “Tony” Kuykendall.

Surviving are two sons, Paul Kuykendall of Orlando, Fla. and Ray Kuykendall of Chesnee, S.C.; five daughters, Joyce Kimpton of Tryon, N.C., Nancy Stevenson of Gulf Port, Miss., Diana Kuykendall of Inman, S.C., Jean Newsome of Raleigh, N.C. and Susie Dennison of Columbus, N.C.; one brother, Howard Williams of Tryon, N.C.; one sister, Lorena Brown of Ohio. Also surviving are 76 grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, N.C. with Mr. Kenneth Williams officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
