Arthur Lee Lomax, 59, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2016 surrounded by his family. He had been hospitalized at Duke University with complications from influenza.

Lee was born in High Point, N.C. in November, 1956. His parents were Harold and Pat Martin. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 1979. Subsequently, he married his devoted wife Connie in 1989. He had a successful career with Dell, retiring in 2002 as vice president of computer sales for the Southeast. He was also a co-founder of Carolina Classical School in Tryon along with his wife and other friends in the community. He served as headmaster and considered his time there as some of the best years of his life. He later founded and directed PokterTek, Inc. with two of his friends, which became a publicly-traded software company until its sale in 2013.

Known for his service and strong faith in God, Lee served as a Deacon at Grace Community Church in Mills River, N.C. He also participated on the boards of several civic organizations, including the UNC Board of Visitors. Lee was known for his limitless love of his family, his devotion to his friends, and his generous heart. He was particularly proud of establishing the Lomax Family Foundation with his wife, which supports Christian ministries, churches, and a variety of charities. Lee enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, playing golf with his friends and his son, and keeping close tabs on his daughters. He came into this world the same way he went out—a Tar Heel.
