Tryon Equestrian Partners is proud to announce the acquisition of the renowned Cleghorn Plantation Golf & Country Club located in Rutherfordton, N.C., which will be added to the portfolio of properties the group collectively owns and manages in the foothills region of the Carolinas.

Cleghorn Plantation, located just 6.5 miles from Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC), will see renovations and revisions to the golf course and clubhouse.

“The Cleghorn Plantation serves as a historic landmark in this region and we are honored to incorporate it into what is an expanding resort location in the Carolina foothills,” said Mark Bellissimo, managing partner of Tryon Equestrian Partners. “We hope that this acquisition will lead to a strong growth in member registrations, as well as draw more individuals to this beautiful area of the country, whether it be for equestrian competition, or to experience the range of recreational amenities available at Tryon Resort and in the foothills region.”
Cleghorn Plantation Golf & Country Club offers its members and guests an 18-hole course, designed by George Cobb, mastermind behind the Par 3 course at Augusta National in Augusta, Ga. as well as Quail Hollow in Charlotte, N.C. The course at Cleghorn, which will be renamed The Fairways at Tryon Resort, spans nearly 7,000 yards and accommodates players of all ages and experience levels.
The main plantation house, which has been standing on the property since 1837, will be restored, as plans for a farm-to-table restaurant will take shape in an effort to preserve and showcase the historic qualities of Rutherford County.
